
Art earned dual associate degrees in Agricultural Diesel Mechanics and Farm and Ranch Management from Hutchinson Community College. After graduating from college, he worked as a project manager in the road construction industry for a few years. It didn't take long for him to follow his heart back to Lebo, where he started his own farming operation.

Art and his wife, Kelly, live in Lebo, where he was born and raised. The first six years of their marriage were spent in Emporia before they returned to his hometown to raise their two daughters. Their oldest daughter is an emergency room nurse while the youngest is in high school.

Art currently serves on the Coffey County Planning and Zoning Board and the Coffey County Farm Bureau Board. He previously served on the USDA Farm Service Agency Coffey County Committee. In 2020, he received the Kansas Bankers Association Soil Conservation Award in recognition of the conservation practices implemented on his farming operation.
